We met Larissa at the Amor Barcelona meeting. She is a photographer and has lived in Barcelona for 17 years. Her urban images fascinate me. They surround me with silence, a muted palette, soft light and very accurately convey the mood and atmosphere of Barcelona. Without the tourist bustle. I really wanted to do a big interview with Larissa, but now I had to limit myself to a small online format.
Tell me about yourself
My name is Larisa. I am originally from Belarus and I have been living in Barcelona for about 17 years. I love taking pictures of beautiful places, beautiful things and beautiful people. And in general, I love everything that is beautiful.
How did you move here? How many years have you lived in Barcelona?
Sometimes I feel like I've lived in Barcelona all my life, and sometimes I feel like I just arrived yesterday. I didn't have a specific goal in mind, I just wanted something new. Everything was interesting!
How long did it take you to adjust to your new life?
For about two years while I was learning the language. As soon as I could speak Spanish, it became easier in all aspects. And in general, when you are inspired by a place and young, even the most stressful situations seem like minor annoyances and temporary difficulties.
What surprises you most here to this day?
The light! The light in Barcelona, it's magic!
Do you feel local?
Yeah, I feel at home here.
What was the city like when you moved?
Everything seemed unusual, new, different from Belarus....The first thing I noticed was the smell of the city, very typical of Barcelona. Now I don't smell it anymore, but I still remember what it was like. And then, I think, there were not so many tourists and foreigners.
What has changed the most?
Sagrada Familia :)
Barcelona as a photographer - what is it like?
Inexhaustible.
Your favourite places in Barcelona?
Bunkers del Carmel at sunset when you can see all of Barcelona and I love the little cosy corners of the old town in the mornings when there are still no tourists.
Barcelona for you in one word or phrase
Movement. Life. Freedom.
